Every business is struggling right now, and I’m sure you’re all trying to make the most of your time by redesigning, refurbishing, and cleaning that month-old stain no one wants to touch. However, you should make the most of this time; staying on top of your business and remaining creative is more crucial than ever. This article offers four pieces of advice for promoting yourself and staying motivated amid the coronavirus outbreak.
1. Keep your clients up to date
If you have a regular place where you serve your customers, such as an office, a bar, a restaurant, or a cafe, Take advantage of this time to renovate this area; not only will your business look its finest when you reopen, but it will also keep your employees engaged, preventing you from feeling isolated. There are various methods to go about it; for example, use social media to document your success and adjustments. When redesigning/revamping, take before, during, and after photographs to give your customers something to look forward to. You can make them hilarious or stupid however you want; I think we could all need a good laugh right now.
2. Use this time to plan ahead.
It’s difficult to keep track of your plans, whether they’re about your target group, messaging, long and short-term goals, or anything else when you’re in the thick of things. Take advantage of this opportunity to re-evaluate yourself and your company. Have you achieved your objectives? Is everything going according to plan? Why? What are the opinions of your coworkers/employees? Should you give dibs to James in marketing? Was it too much to spend £30,000 on a business lunch? Maybe you need some sultry new stationery?
3. What has changed in your market?
Take the time to identify and contact your main customers, and ask them what changes they would want to see in your company. This not only provides them with a sense of ownership in your company, but it also allows you to hear directly from your client group(s) what they want. After you’ve gathered all of this information, it’s time to bring it all together and make it happen. Whether it’s enhancing your business’s location, introducing new services or goods, or even a complete makeover. Then, make sure you’re making good use of your time so that when the time comes, you’ll be ready to go full throttle.
4. Stay motivated to stay relevant.
Many people, including myself, are currently required to work from home. When you’re out of the office and away from your coworkers, it might be difficult to work for long periods of time (the ones you like). Suddenly, that question you could ask the person next to you on the work chat goes unanswered for hours, or the enthusiasm you gained from the lunchtime nonsense is gone. Maybe, just maybe, the boss breathing down your neck was essential in getting you to finish on time. Obviously not for me, but perhaps for you.
So, what are your options? Now is the moment to get creative, reinvent your brand, and advocate for the improvements you’ve always wanted to make but never had the time. If you believe it has been lost, rediscover the significance in your work; what are you good at? What are you bad at? What are some of the things you’d like to do more of? Make an effort to stay in touch with your friends and coworkers, and make sure that everyone understands that you’re still a team even when you’re not together. Finally, and most importantly, make the most of this time.
